Rudy takes us back to 1984

This quote from Rudy Giuliani was in a profile of him from a Colorado newspaper detailing his many fascist tenancies. Here's how he views that great Republican talking point, "freedom."
"Freedom is not a concept in which people can do anything they want, be anything they can be. Freedom is about authority. Freedom is about the willingness of every single human being to cede to lawful authority a great deal of discretion about what you do."

Freedom is about authority? I really thought freedom was slavery, ignorance was strength, and war was peace. Maybe only in the Republican party...

do you get harpers mag? the cover for last month: "giuliani: a fate worse than bush" - surprising that no one knows how bad rudy is - only that he is a post-9/11 "hero"...not in my book, baby.

No, but I would love to read that. Everything I've read about him portrays him as a mini-fascist.

It's interesting that he's viewed as the 9-11 "hero" when, before the attack, it was him that forced them to put the crisis command center IN THE WORLD TRADE CENTER instead of a location away from likely targets like everyone else wanted to do. And it was him that pissed off the firefighers union, et al, by deciding that bulldozing the rubble was more important than recovering the bodies or worrying about potential health risks. But, hey, I'm sure he said some really nice things during the press conference so I'm sure he knows a lot about how to deal with terrorism, right? Right?
